During the summer of 2007, a lowly soon-to-be high school senior named Patrick (see unnecessarily large picture below)
formed Shots in the Dark Independent Theatre Company to provide performance opportunities for actors and technicians ranging from middle school through college. The Columbus Academy graciously allowed the company to perform in their theater.
Shots in the Dark's first production, The Long Red Herring, a murder mystery that is a complete hoax, turned out to be a greater success than it had ever expected. The company used the donations it received to grow. It formed working relationships with Parks and Recreations Departments and other community theaters to perform in some of the most beautiful theatre spaces in Central Ohio.
Shots in the Dark Independent Theatre Company is celebrating its fifth anniversary season with an expanded production schedule including its inaugural winter season. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged marked the company's first venture outside of Ohio with a performance at Bethany College in West Virginia. As a nonprofit, pre-professional theatre company, Shots in the Dark continues to rely on sponsorships and donations for their continued success.
